Weekly Meal Planner Checklist: Free Printable

Weekly Meal Planner Checklist: Free Printable

A weekly meal plan does not need to be complicated. This checklist walks you through the five steps that take a blank week and turn it into a dinner plan you can actually follow, with a grocery list ready to go.

Use it on Sunday morning or Saturday evening, before the week starts, and the question "what is for dinner?" stops being a daily surprise.

How to use this checklist

Work through the five steps in order. The whole process takes about fifteen minutes once you have done it a few times.

Step 1: Check your pantry and fridge

Before you plan anything, see what you already have. Look for:

Note anything that needs using soon. These become your early-week meals.

Step 2: Check your week

Look at your schedule for the week ahead. Note:

Fill in the non-cooking nights first. The remaining nights are what you are planning for.

Step 3: Plan your dinners

For each cooking night, choose a meal. Aim for:

You do not need to plan lunches if they are usually leftovers or simple. Add them if it helps.

Step 4: Write the grocery list

Go through each planned meal and list what you need. Then add:

Group by section (produce, proteins, dairy, dry goods) so the shop is faster.

Step 5: Prep anything in advance

Note any quick prep you can do on the weekend to make weeknight cooking easier:

Even fifteen minutes of prep on Sunday saves time on three evenings.
